The Plot Thickens
In My Neighbor Alice, it is possible to purchase virtual plots situated on one of the islands of the Lummelunda archipelago. In future iterations of the game, players will be able to change the form of the terrain and decorate it with various in-game items such as houses, lakes, decorations, animals, plants, and other things that can be acquired additionally. It can be hard to know what makes a plot unique and more generally how the plots differ from one another. Here is a quick primer on soil & water.
Water
We are not qualified to give dating advice, but here is one we believe is undeniable: find someone who will talk about you like our Game Designer Robin talks about fishing. Suffice to say, it’s contagious and a lot of dormant fishermen have been awakened around the office. Now we all know that there are three types of waters: freshwater, saltwater and brackish water. We’ll help you shine during your next dinner in town by explaining what brackish really means. Brackish means saltier than freshwater but not as much as seawater (river estuaries are a great example). All this to say that different species of fish can be found in different types of water. The rarest fish will swim the purest waters, so on and so forth. Again, the water bodies on each plot can be of either good, excellent or legendary quality.
Soil
Do you ever stop and think about the ground under your feet? Is it earth? Is it sand? Is it silt? Clay perhaps? Furthermore, is it of good quality? In our daily lives, those are questions that only arise when we plan to build a house or plant vegetables. Ask any of your favorite producers next time you hit the farmer’s market and they will tell you: the better the soil the better the harvest. This is why soil is one of the chief elements to influence the price of a plot, both in real life and in-game. Just know that in My Neighbor Alice, every plot of land comes with soil that is of either good, excellent or legendary quality. It means that a plot may be dirt cheap but can never be dirt poor… something to remember when the next land sale gets off the ground.
Island
Of course, the island on which the plots are located can be an important factor too. So far, it’s been possible to acquire land on lush Nature’s Rest and mystical Medieval Plains. Access to new islands will be given as the development of the game progresses so stay tuned!
